Miqat Dhu’l-Hulayfah – Why This Stop Matters on Your Journey

For pilgrims travelling from Madinah to Makkah for Umrah, the Miqat of Dhu’l-Hulayfah – also known as Abyar Ali – is the designated boundary where Ihram must be worn before entering the sacred precinct of Makkah.

Located just outside Madinah, Dhu’l-Hulayfah is the most distant Miqat from Makkah and is the designated boundary for residents of Madinah and for travellers departing from Madinah. It is the same Miqat used by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ during his journeys to Makkah.
